Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) / LAN Administrator

The Applied Electronics Division of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) in Cypress, CA is seeking a full-time ISSM / LAN Administrator. They will be joining our growing office with lots of opportunities for growth. A successful candidate will be familiar with the 32 CFR Part 117, DAAPM, NIST RMF, DoDM 5205.07, and/or JSIG IS requirements.  They will have strong written and oral communication skills to maintain a relationship with our ISSP and other mission partners. ARA is searching for a candidate who takes the initiative and creates decisive paths to complete tasks. This person will need to work well in a team environment with a commitment to ensure security awareness and techniques are communicated effectively across the infrastructure.

As Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), the right candidate must be able to:

  • Develop RMF accreditation packages and assist in maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) certifications for networked systems and applications used by the organization
  • Develop information system documentation and the provision of a designated set of common controls for the authorization package, including the executive summary, system security plan, privacy plan, security control assessment, privacy control assessment, risk assessments, equipment specifications, and any relevant plans of action and milestones
  • Investigate security incidents to include data spills, data integrity incidents and malicious code incidents
  • Experience with compliance certifications of various operating systems
  • Operate in Windows and Linux/Unix based systems
  • Administrate Windows and Linux/Unix based servers

As LAN Manager, the right candidate must be able to:

  • Evaluate, recommend, install, and support local area network (LAN) hardware and software.
  • Evaluate user hardware and software network needs.
  • Evaluate LAN hardware and software requirements and capabilities and make recommendations.
  • Establish documentation standards for network cabling schemes.
  • Coordinate technical installation of hardware requirements.
  • Install application software programs on the LAN.
  • Provide software and hardware familiarization overview with users.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoots problems with department users and department LAN Administrators.

Required Qualifications for the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) / LAN Administrator are:

  • SECRET Security Clearance (TOP SECRET is preferred)
  • COMPTIA Security + Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or related field) or equivalent
  • Two to four years Cyber Security experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • DoD Directive 8570.1 IAM Level II or higher certification. (If not CISSP, must be willing to become CISSP certified)
