The Planning Director will be a hands-on, working manager with the technical expertise to produce/implement exceptional work product and the internal drive to take the agency to the next level.

Requires a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, City Planning, Urban Planning, Public Administration or related field supplemented by six (6) to ten (10) years in urban/municipal planning, some of which has been in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Local government experience in the State of Florida is preferred. Must obtain AICP Certification within one (1) year of hire date. Must possess a valid State Driver's License.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

• Experience working as a professional planner in Florida
• A portfolio of successfully executed planning initiatives, programs, and urban design projects
• A portfolio of successfully implemented projects/initiatives
• A technical proficiency, e.g. urban design, landscape architecture, area/corridor planning, etc.
• Added credentials such as Professional Landscape Architect (PLA), Certified Urban Designer (CUD), Congress of New Urbanism Accredited (CNU-A), or similar
• Experience implementing a hybrid form-based code
• Functional capacity to productively utilize the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products

The salary range for this position is $89,341.79 - $135,944.56. While the starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, it is anticipated not to exceed $125,000.
