Library Maintenance Worker

Performs maintenance and repair work for the County Libraries.  Transports library materials from one Library to another.  Assists with various other Library functions as required.  Requires evening and weekend work.

 

  • Receives, sorts, loads, packs, transports and delivers containers of Library materials to and from Library branches on a daily basis.
  • Ensures maintenance of assigned vehicles.
  • Configures meeting rooms and performs maintenance of shelving and equipment.
  • Loads equipment and materials onto/off of trucks.
  • Monitors condition of buildings and furnishings for safety and serviceability.
  • Performs minor maintenance including changing filters, light bulbs, painting, etc.
  • Shelves all library materials and assists with shifting projects. Utilizes various types of small equipment and hand and power tools in the performance of duties.
  • Operates a variety of equipment, which includes a computer, printer, cash register, scanner, fax machine, copier, calculator, multi-lined telephone & two-way radio.
  • Performs duties in accordance with all Department policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other employees and the general public.
  • Runs errands as directed.
  • Performs general maintenance.
  • Moves furniture and other items as required.
  • Answers the telephone; provides information as requested and/or forwards calls to appropriate staff person; takes messages as needed.
  • Assists patrons with logging on to the Internet, printing from the public computers and copiers and other various requests.
  • Fills in at Libraries as necessary to allow for locations to stay open for their advertised hours.
  • Performs circulation duties as needed, including, but not limited to: checking materials in and out, placing items on hold, issuing library cards, collecting fines and fees, emptying book returns, etc.

This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.  Must possess a valid State Driver’s License.

 

The hourly range for this position is $15.0546 – $22.9077. The County provides a comprehensive benefits program and participates in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) and has a 3% employee contribution requirement.
